Monel 401 (UNS N 04401) is mainly used in specialized electrical and electronic applications. Monel 401 is easily autogenous welded in a tungsten gas arc process. Resistance welding is a very satisfactory method of joining material. It also has good soldering performance.
Monel 401 is a ductile copper-nickel alloy with a very low coefficient of electrical resistance and resistance to various corrosive conditions. As with commercially pure nickel, Monel 401 has low annealed strength and can only be cold worked up to 120 KSI.
