Alloy B-3 / Hastelloy B-3 / UNS 10675 / 2.4600
Alloy B-3 is a nickel-molybdenum compound that is highly resistant to
phosphoric, acetic and sulfuric acids. Hastelloy B-3 is a strong enough alloy
capable of being resistant to mechanical stress.
The main alloying element of Alloy B-3 is molybdenum, due to which the material
has good heat resistance and amenable to pressure processing. However, when
using nickel-molybdenum alloys, it is worth considering the cold brittleness of
molybdenum.
Due to the small amount of carbon and silicon in Hastelloy B-3, the alloy does
not lose its anti-corrosion properties during welding. This is achieved by
reducing the precipitation of carbides in the welding zone.
