Hastelloy's heat-resistant stainless steel was developed by Haynes International
specifically for the needs of the chemical and aerospace industries. It was
necessary to obtain a steel alloy that would be distinguished by such parameters
as:
, The highest strength;
, Resistance to corrosion of all types;
, Resistance to deformation;
, Preservation of properties in a wide range of temperatures and pressures.
Hastelloy alloys, the price of which depends on the variety (there are about
three dozen different types of this brand), include components such as nickel,
chromium, manganese, iron, vanadium, cobalt, niobium, molybdenum, aluminum, etc.
Features and Applications
The main purpose of the alloys of this brand is to ensure the working process at
high temperatures and pressures, as well as in acidic and alkaline atmospheres.
Conventional stainless alloys generally do not have high durability under these
conditions.
Hastelloy is most effective in this regard: it is used in the production of
parts for nuclear reactors, in the manufacture of pipelines for transporting
chemically active working media. In addition, they can be used as spraying on
already existing structural elements and mechanisms to improve their performance
(gas-thermal method).
