Hastelloy B2 is a hardened nickel-molybdenum hard alloy, characterized by
good resistance to environments with the presence of gaseous hydrogen chloride,
and sulfuric, acetic and phosphoric acids in small concentrations. Molybdenum
neutralizes the influence of these media and provides good corrosion resistance.
Physical properties
Density of Hastelloy V-2 alloy (weight) - 9.2 g / cm3
Thermal properties N10665
This nickel-based alloy is weldable and has good resistance to intergranular
carbide corrosion in the weld overlay area.
At the same time, Hastelloy B-2 / Alloy B-2 has poor resistance to corrosive
oxidation, so it should not be used in this type of environment, as well as in
the presence of 3-valent iron or 2-valent salt, as this is fraught with surface
destruction ...
The alloy is produced in the form of a rod, a rod with a round section.
Hastelloy B-2 is used in units that involve chemical processes, as elements of
vacuum furnaces and mechanical parts for equipment, the operation of which
involves contact with reducing media.
Corrosion resistance
Nickel-molybdenum alloy Nimofer 6928, with very low carbon and silicon content,
which reduce carbide and other phase precipitation in thermally exposed weld
zones, provides sufficient corrosion properties also in the welded state.
Nimofer 6928 exhibits good resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting
and is especially corrosion resistant in reducing environments. It is resistant
both against hydrochloric acid in wide temperature and concentration ranges, as
well as against sulfuric acid of medium concentration with minor admixtures of
chloride.
It can also be used in acetic and phosphoric acids. Optimum corrosion resistance
can only be ensured if the material is used in a clean, shiny metallic
condition.
The newly developed material Nimofer 6629 Alloy B-4 exhibits improved resistance
to cracking corrosion than Nimofer 6928 Alloy B-2 with the same resistance to
general corrosion and intergranular corrosion.
Sensitization resistance is also improved.
Welding
Nimofer 6928 can be welded with TIG and coated MMA welding. Arc welding is
preferred. For gas-shielded welding, it is recommended to use a multicomponent
shielding gas (Ar + He + H2 + CO2).
